The 1960s are now a distant memory in motor racing. There were legendary drivers, even if we have now forgotten almost all of them. Design and construction techniques were evolving rapidly and chaotically. The tracks remained as they had always been. And how many drivers died on those tracks without escape routes, elastic barriers or metal barriers.

Safety was an unknown concept. It was during those years that Jackie Stewart and then the GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers' Association) began their crusade for greater safety on the circuits and in racing, in parallel with the increased speeds achieved thanks to an understanding of aerodynamics applied to racing cars.
