Mini a Marchio Rover 1969-2000 - Le Guide ASI

The Minis produced by Rover (after its acquisition by British Leyland in 1968) continued the tradition of the original model, launched in 1959 by Alec Issigonis.

In the 1970s and 1980s, under Rover's management, the Mini retained its iconic compact design and front-wheel drive, but underwent technical and stylistic improvements. The Mini and Mini Cooper (with 998 and 1275 cc engines, respectively) remained the flagship models, renowned for their agility and exceptional manoeuvrability in city traffic.

Despite the evolution, Rover managed to retain the original spirit of the Mini, with a design that remained unchanged, symbolising an economical and sporty car, loved for its character and personality.

The Rover-branded Mini represented a piece of motoring history, continuing to enjoy success until the 2000s, when production was finally discontinued.

'Tidying up' the rich, jagged and varied history of the Mini by focusing on the Rover brand also means paying homage to a legend and understanding the link between tradition and innovation that has always permeated a model that has now become a myth.
